Established in 1974, Golden West Technology (GWT), is one of Orange County’s first full service contract electronics manufacturers. In the seventies, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) viewed outsourcing, especially electronics manufacturing, as a high risk proposition; losing control of quality and production. Realizing these concerns, GWT challenged OEMs in various industries by introducing a concept that is now commonly referred to as “partnering”. GWT’s goal was to remove the fears of OEMs by establishing relationships that encouraged mutual involvement, giving OEMs influence in manufacturing schedules, quality controls and unlimited access to manufacturing operations. This early approach has proven to be the benchmark for GWT’s success.
