GWT ATTENDS MD&M AGAIN IN 2019

Written by gwt on . Posted in News

Once again, GWT chooses to be a consistent mainstay over at the Anaheim Convention Center based MD&M Trade Show. The medical industry is one of our major targeted markets along with industrial and aerospace. GWT takes the unique approach of manning our booth with hands-on professionals like Scott Morse, Director of Sales, Mike Kutzle, Purchasing/Materials Manager, and Russell Rieth, our current President. They were enthusiastically displaying sample PCBAs and assemblies in our relatively new-look trade show booth. We were very excited to see some of our current and future Customers that were either visiting the show or exhibiting as well. Hope to see you all there again next year in February of 2020!

GWT Announces Major Equipment Expansion

Last year, GWT purchased our first non-Fuji related pick and place machine when we purchased a brand new Yamaha M20 machine from Yamaha/Amistar. The advantages of this new Yamaha equipment are multifold… bringing added flexibility, speed, efficiency, and space/footprint utilization. It allowed us to go from 2 fully automated assembly lines to 3, with 1 Yamaha and 2 Fuji lines. With successful confirmation of this new machine and its numerous advantages, GWT has taken a next step of purchasing another new Yamaha pick and place machine, this time the S20, to replace the oldest Fuji line. The S20 machine version is essentially the same as the M20 we already have but the S20 has 12 heads rather than 6 for our M20 and therefore 30% more speed than our other machine. Furthermore with the smaller footprint of both Yamaha machines, we will eventually be able to expand to 4 lines within the same automation space where we could only house 2 lines previously with the Fuji equipment. GWT is very excited about this major expansion and this significant development in our manufacturing capability.

GWT MAINTAINS ISO/AS91OO REGISTRATION FOR 19TH STRAIGHT YEAR

This year’s audit by our registrar NSF-ISR was particularly challenging for a number of reasons… the first one being that GWT had to comply with the latest ISO and AS91OO standard upgrades that take us to 2015 and 2016 respectively. Secondly, over the past 19 years of compliance, our original Quality Manual’s organization and configuration needed to be updated to totally match the most current standards. Not only did we pass the audit with flying colors but we also have a brand new Quality Manual that has a realigned and reformatted, fresh look that is easier to use and apply. Huge thanks to Derek Bannon, our Quality Manager, for successfully navigating us through this process.
